How did you meet your spouse?
Peter and I met in high school when we were 14 years old. What started as a friendship quickly turned into our first relationship—and ultimately our last. We have grown up side by side, navigating every stage of life together, and over a decade we’ve built something incredibly strong, stable and beautiful. Marrying your first love and high school sweetheart is quite special, and we feel very lucky that our teenage romance became a lifetime together.
Tell us about your proposal
Peter proposed during a trip through the French Riviera. He had planned a beautiful surprise proposal on a pier in Cannes overlooking the water, complete with a hidden photographer to capture the moment. The proposal itself was perfect, although not entirely stress-free for Peter! Unbeknownst to me, there were a few unexpected obstacles that nearly derailed his carefully planned vision. Looking back, it’s become one of our favourite stories to tell because it was so uniquely “us”—equal parts romantic and hilarious.
I was completely surprised when he got down on one knee. My first words were, “Is this actually happening, and does my dad know?” The rest felt like a blur. We celebrated with a beautiful engagement shoot and an unforgettable dinner. It was everything I could have hoped for and a memory we will treasure forever.
Tell us about your wedding dress. How was your experience when you were searching for "The One"?
Finding my wedding dress was a journey, but the moment I put on my gown, I knew. It was a Demetrios gown featuring a sheer lace bodice and a voluminous Mikado skirt, customised with a high split that made it feel uniquely mine. Sposa was the very first bridal boutique I visited, and from the beginning, the experience felt special. My stylist, Mariana, took the time to understand not only what I wanted in a dress, but who I was as a person. After visiting several boutiques, I found myself returning to Sposa because nothing compared to the level of care and service I received there.
At my second appointment, Mariana had carefully selected gowns based on our conversations and guided me through the latest Demetrios collection. The very first dress I tried on was my dress. I looked in the mirror, burst into tears, and instantly knew it was the one. The alterations process was equally wonderful. The entire team made me feel supported and confident every step of the way, and I couldn’t have been happier with the final result. The team was very skilled and my bustle held up the whole night and was so secure given the weight of my skirt, I was so impressed.
Describe a favourite highlight or two from your wedding day.
Without question, my favourite moment was seeing Peter at the end of the aisle. I expected to walk in smiling, but the moment I saw him become emotional, I was a bit of a wreck. As I walked towards him, I reflected on the last 14 years together, and it felt as though a lifetime of memories flashed before my eyes. It was one of the most emotional and meaningful moments of my life.
Another unforgettable moment was watching our guests enter the reception. Seeing the vision we had spent so long creating come to life—with our incredible musicians, dancers, and the romantic, ethereal atmosphere we had hoped for was truly an out of body experience. As we were married on Valentine’s Day, we really wanted the space to feel romantic, warm, and full of love. Looking around the room and seeing all of our favourite people experiencing the romance of the space amazing!
Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?
Start early, take your time, and don’t feel pressured to do everything at once. Most importantly, remember that your wedding should reflect you as a couple. Everyone will have an opinion, but at the end of the day, the decisions that matter most are the ones that feel right for the two of you.
