How did you meet your spouse?

We both worked at T2! (at different stores). The Canberra region held a pre-mother's day training session and we were at the same table. We had never met each other before, but my manager told me the next day that the 'hunky blonde guy' at my table was staring at me the whole time. She dubbed him my 'T2 boyfriend' haha. At the end of the training session, we found ourselves as part of the clean up crew, Ed washing the tea pots and myself drying. We got to chatting and when I got home, I had a friend request pop up on my Facebook.

Nothing came from this until a year later, we connected again and the rest is history!

Tell us about your proposal

It was nearing the end of the year and Ed suggested we go to our favourite restaurant, Morks, for dinner. I thought this was just a nice night out to celebrate our achievements for the year and a chance to relax in each other's company before the craziness of the Christmas season.

As it was a spur of the moment decision, the only available seating time was 8pm. We are both early eaters, but we thought, why not!

Ed wore his tightest white jeans which I thought was HILARIOUS, but hey, who was I to stand in the way of my man's fashion sense... when we got to the restaurant, we ordered just as we normally do. The manager/owner Benny came over to greet us and ask how we were. We went to Morks for every anniversary, so Benny always remembered us, and would often bring over some sparkling wine on the house. I was very unaware of anything at this point as it was just like every other time we visited.

I noticed that Ed wasn't eating much and assumed it was because he snacked in the lead up to the late sitting. As we were finishing up, Ed started to tell me all of the things he loved about me, about our life and then got down on one knee and proposed! I was in tears as I said yes and the entire restaurant congratulated us.

Benny came over to congratulate us and let us know the meal was on the house.

I later found out the ring box was unusually big and red, so it was a challenge for Ed to keep it hidden! It did not fit in the pockets of his tight jeans, so he had to sit with it wedged between his knees the whole time! I was completely oblivious haha

Tell us about your wedding dress. How was your experience when you were searching for "The One"?

I had been to Sposa twice. I went on my own for my first appointment and fell in love with a mermaid style dress. After visiting a couple of other boutiques, it was down to that mermaid style, or an A-Line dress.

I booked a second appointment and brought my bridesmaids along. This time, I tried on the original dress that I liked, an A-Line style one, one that the girls picked out for me and a last minute grab off the rack because it looked nice... that last one turned out to the THE ONE! It was an almost instant decision. I felt like a princess in it, it fit like a glove with the only alteration needed being the hem. I cried, the girls cried, it was a whole thing!

Describe a favourite highlight or two from your wedding day.

Definite highlight would be our photoshoot with Neil Hole Photography. One of my favourite photos is of Ed picking me up and spinning. The fullness of the dress, the smiles on our faces, it was just pure joy.

Another would be our bouquet toss. We did it a little differently - we got all the guys out on the dancefloor to win a bouquet of flowers for their other halves. It was an absolute spectacle watching them climb over each other and there were a couple of dives in the end!

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?

Enjoy the process and try not to get hung up on the small things. The big day will go so fast, so make sure you take a moment with your other half to take it all in.
