How did you meet your spouse?
Online dating - just before the pandemic hit. We had to work out quickly if we liked each other or not; and walking dates were a thing!
Tell us about your proposal
Nick and I travelled to New Zealand in July 2021 - just after NZ re-opened the borders to Australia and right before they shut them again. We went over so that I could have the opportunity to meet Nick's parents. On our last day we spent the day on Waiheke Island doing what we love doing - hiking around. I turned around to Nick asking me for some hand sanitiser and he was on one knee asking me to marry him!
Tell us about your wedding dress. How was your experience when you were searching for "The One"?
The Sposa Group was the first place I went to. I had seen some of the dresses online but let Corra choose some dresses for me too. The dress I purchased was actually the first one I tried on; I thought it couldn't be that easy so I tried on several more but couldn't get the first one out of my head. The next day I went back, Corra made some magic happen so that I could see what it might look like with an ivory underlay and the rest is history.
Describe a favourite highlight or two from your wedding day.
We had a cart serving cannoli to our guests immediately after the church ceremony and we loved that we could share a snack with our guests before we ran off to get our photos done.
We had a small wedding of 40 guests for dinner and it was such a beautiful and intimate way to celebrate - it felt like a long dinner with family and friends rather than the regimented flow of normal weddings - it was how we wanted to celebrate without too much fanfare.
Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?
A really well-kept spreadsheet: document everything, including payments, when you need to pay and who's paying what.
Plan ahead for the few weeks out from the wedding - it will be a big hit to the budget.
Enjoy the process and get ahead where you can - it will save headaches later on.
