How did you meet your spouse?
We first met at an 18th birthday party. I saw Sean standing by himself next to the dance floor with his foot in a moon boot trying his hardest to dance by waving his crutches in the air and shuffling around. I thought I would go up to this boy trying his hardest to have a good time despite his apparent injury and strike up a conversation. We hit it off and spoke all night! Very sweet and cute beginning to our story.
Tell us about your proposal
We had gone to Queensland for a quick holiday to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. On the day of our anniversary, 4th of February, we were driving down to Broadbeach when Sean suggested we take a detour to a rainforest tree top sky walk before we checked into our accommodation. I initially hesitated because I wanted to make the most of the beautiful hotel we had booked but Sean insisted it would be lots of fun. We missed the turn off to the sky walk but ended up in a beautiful little town at the top of the mountain. We had some quick breakfast and a couple of locals told us about some beautiful waterfalls where you could swim under and Sean suggested we go, considering it had been a bucket list item for the both of us to swim in a waterfall. We drove to the entrance to the waterfalls and hiked all the way down (sweating bullets because it was so unbelievably hot) and eventually found the spot and wow was it beautiful!!
Sean insisted we climbed further down to a more secluded part of the waterfalls. We clambered over large boulders and rocks, shoes in hand, and eventually found a beautiful secluded spot. I dropped our things down and grabbed my phone to take a picture of Sean by the waterfall but when I turned around he was down on one knee ring in hand! I was so truly surprised, having not suspected a single thing the entire time. Truly such a magical day.
Tell us about your wedding dress. How was your experience when you were searching for "The One"?
My wedding dress was truly the dress of my dreams!! I knew the second I walked into Sposa's boutique I would be able to find a dress truly unique and perfect for me. Every single member of staff were so attentive, listening to my preferences but also offering alternatives I wouldn't have usually considered. I felt understood, listened to and never pressured by the Sposa girls. The team made the entire experience so fun and special, I felt like I was in good and experienced hands at all times!
The moment I put on my dress I knew it was the one. The song playing in Sposa when I first tried on my dress and walked out was the song we had decided on for our first dance, it truly was a sign!! It was everything I had hoped for and with every fitting and alteration appointment my dress became more and more perfect. I knew I always wanted to have long sleeves for my wedding dress but was slightly concerned it would be too hot. The wonderful seamstresses however were able to customise my dress so that the sleeves became detachable. Pairing the detachable sleeves with the bustling of the long train, I was lucky enough to have 2 dresses in 1!!
I cannot thank the team at Sposa for making my wedding dress dreams truly come true!
Describe a favourite highlight or two from your wedding day.
Walking down the aisle truly was such an incredible moment, all the stresses from the wedding lead up just dissolved into pure happiness the second the doors to the church opened and I could see Sean standing at the end of the aisle waiting for me (tissue in hand). I could literally feel the love from all of our family and friends radiating and I was just so beyond excited to take this next step with the love of my life. From the second we met at the end of the aisle we couldn't wipe the smiles off our face all day.
Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?
There's no denying that it is going to be stressful at times but remember the little things do not matter. Try not to sweat the small stuff and know that as long as you two are together, surrounded by your nearest and dearest, you are going to have the day of your dreams....no one remembers the colour of your napkins!
