Tell us about your proposal
Stuart is an Equine Veterinarian and he proposed to me after doing 'track rounds' at Flemington Racecourse one sunny Saturday morning in December 2022. We were admiring the Japanese themed garden (in the Members area) which has a small water feature and footbridge. Stuart was standing behind me and whispered into my ear "Darling, would you be my wife?" to which I turned around to find him down on one knee on the little footbridge holding a box with the most stunning diamond ring (I had no involvement or knowledge of this ring!). Utterly shocked and surprised, I said YES!
Tell us about your wedding dress. How was your experience when you were searching for "The One"?
I found it both really easy and fun finding my wedding dress. I had already looked at the options online and had an idea of what I wanted but went into the appointment with an open mind and allowed the stylist to pull some looks that she believed would suit my figure. I had three great options picked out and allowed my mum and best friend to help decide which dress would be best for the day and ultimately, suited me the most. It just so happened to be one that was out the back, not actually on the floor and fit me like a glove with only minor alterations required. Once the dress was paired with the veil, it was quickly determined to be "The One" and I didn't want to take it off!
Describe a favourite highlight or two from your wedding day.
The whole wedding day itself was a highlight - I had such a great day! From waking up at sunrise to having hair and makeup done, I had absolutely no stresses on my wedding day. I was even running early for the Ceremony! My favourite moment was hopping into the wedding car after the Ceremony with my new husband, having some alone time together to soak up the moment of being newly married.
Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding?
Make sure you're on the same page as your other half as to what you do/don't want for your wedding day - don't listen to the noise around you as it's your day, your choices! Shop around for suppliers, you don't have to go with the first one that's available and make sure you are happy with everything.
